In 2012, Berner, a prolific rapper and entrepreneur from San Francisco created one of the most known marijuana brands, Cookies. Cookies was the segway to getting more people involved and knowledgeable in the marijuana space. Berner was able to create a brand that crossed between major cultivation sights, music, social media and fashion. Even people not interested in the cannabis industry follow this brand because of how it doesn’t appeal to just smokers, making it a “lifestyle”. Ever since the successful launch of Cookies, celebrities and famous rappers (i.e Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg) have elevated the brand to new heights. Hip Hop heads, fashion lovers and weed smokers all conjoined from different social network nodes to follow this brand and it’s creations. With the legality of Marijuana on the horizon for many states, the Cookies brand popularity is continuing to peak as it becomes a well known name. An argument that can be brought up is how new comers to Marijuana first find the brand. They’d most likely see an ad somewhere or not have a strong connection to it due to the “high profile” nature of the brand. Of course, overtime there will be stronger ties with this company once it reaches more local areas. There’s still long ways before something like that could happen but many Marijuana brands are filling in those holes. There’s a bright future ahead as Marijuana is now being seen for it’s medicinal benefits.
